Digital Access Activation and Account Sign In

Cadets, faculty or staff at USAFA can enjoy complimentary access to The New York Times courtesy of the McDermott Library.  Follow the instructions to activate your account using your USAFA domain email. After activating, sign in to the NYT anytime, anywhere at:  https://nytimes.com

First Time Activation

TO ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT:

1.  Click the link:  AccessNYT.com

2.  Type the school name:  US Air Force Academy

3.  Welcome to the New York Times. To claim your account, click Create Account and on next screen enter your USAFA email address (@afacademy.af.edu) and a password, then click Create Account.

4.  Check your email to validate your account (message gets sent to that email address). Sign in to your USAFA email client, select the "Confirm Your Email" message, and click the link to confirm your email address.

5.  Please submit your details to redeem your pass.  Student or Faculty/Staff?  For a Student, select your graduation year and an alternative email address (optional), then click "Sign Up".  If you are Faculty/Staff, select the radio button and "Sign Up". 

6.  Congratulations! You've claimed your NYTimes Pass!  You can now enjoy unlimited access to NYTimes.com and eligible NYT mobile apps.  You can set a Calendar Reminder to renew, or skip to Get Started!

Note: The expiration date of your Pass will be shown to you upon activation.  Accounts for cadets expire upon graduation.  Faculty/staff, however, must re-register their account every year to show continued affiliation with USAFA.  Please see box below for NYT reactivation instructions.

NYT Reactivation for Existing Users

Faculty and staff must re-register their accounts annually to show continued USAFA affiliation for NYT access. For account reactivation, please follow these steps:

  1. Log out of NYT on all applicable devices
  2. Go to accessnyt.com and look up "United States Air Force Academy"
  3. On the NYT registration page, click on "Already have an account? Log in here"
  4. Input existing NYT login credentials
  5. Click "Log In"
  6. Please note no verification email is sent when re-registering

Note:  Cadets do not reactive their accounts as they expire upon graduation.
