Faculty Bale Out Guide

Welcome

Welcome from the McDermott Library at the US Air Force Academy. As we state in our strategic plan, the library strives to promote “…a dynamic and innovative learning environment by providing the spaces, resources, and services to support cadet and faculty scholarship…” The library contains an abundance of online and print resources to assist you in curriculum planning, facilitate cadet research, and encourage intellectual collaborations. We hope you take advantage of services offered by our four research/division liaison librarians and take time to explore our materials. Do not hesitate to let us know how we can help you make your academic career at the Air Force Academy a great success.

Your Librarian

Each division has a librarian assigned to support their teaching and library research needs. Your liaison librarian is your go-to person for questions about library resources and services. Please reach out to them if you have any questions about how library services and resources can be of assistance to you. Even if they can't answer your question, they'll know who can.

Your Library Account

Your library account provides access to most of the library electronic resources: eBooks, online journals, specialty databases, and more. Even when searching from off-base, the library links will prompt you to login to facilitate access to our subscriptions.

Unfortunately, we do not have single sign-on for library accounts. Faculty members may email us or stop by McDermott Library to have their library account created for full access to our online resources and services.

In order to check out physical materials from McDermott Library, you will also need to have a barcode assigned to your account. Simply bring your proxy card to the Service Desk during our open hours. Once you have your barcode, you can quickly checkout material, including use of our self-checkout kiosk.
