Robin C. Janton was born in Columbus, Ohio and served in the Army as a ranger in the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) and the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea from 1964-1968. After leaving the Army, Mr. Janton owned and operated a sporting goods store until 1979. In 1987, Mr. Janton became a non-denominational minister. The inspiration for Janton’s work comes from the wartime experiences of his father, who served as a crew chief for the 859th and 788th Bomb Groups during World War II.

This Manuscript Collection consists of eighteen boxes of materials collected by Robin C. Janton for his book The Two Squadrons That Were One: The 859th and 788th Bombardment Squadrons, England, World War II, written in 2003. This collection maintains the original order established by the donor, and his original index has been adapted to conform to Clark Special Collections standard format.
