Linguistics and World Language Teaching

A research guide for educators concerned with the teaching and learning of world languages

Introduction

To find books at USAFA, there are several options:

  • Online Catalog: the best way to search for a print book at the Library, and information on availability with call number and shelving location.
  • Ebsco Discovery Service (EDS): the easiest and best way to search for ebooks since the Online Catalog currently only lists some e-resources.  In EDS you can do a one search across most of our library databases and ebook collections.
  • eBook Collections: search a specific ebook collection from Ebsco, ProQuest, JSTOR, etc. to see if a title is available there.
  • WorldCat: an alternative way to search our library holdings of print and electronic books.  Although not 100% accurate, you can discover many of our library holdings in this global catalog of library collections. WorldCat can also be used to find audiovisual materials and digital resources from library websites including links to dissertations and journal articles full-text.  Resources are available in many different languages and the WorldCat language interface can be changed to Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.

You can also use Prospector, an online union catalog of academic and public libraries in Colorado and Wyoming, to find print and electronic materials for loan from other member library collections.
