Falconry Collection

Members of the Class of 1959, the first to enter the U.S. Air Force Academy at its permanent location, chose the falcon as the mascot. They felt that it best characterized the combat role of the U.S. Air Force. The Academy maintains a mews where falcons are kept and trained by cadets. The Falconry Collection at the library includes periodicals, artwork, and books, fiction and non-fiction, about falcons and falconry that spans centuries.
