While there nearly limitless applications for generative AI, figuring out when to use these tools and which tool to use can be confusing and overwhelming. Learn in which situations generative AI can be used to your advantage and how to choose the right GenAI tool for the job.

Consider Generative AI for:

  • Brainstorming ideas
  • Writing first drafts
  • Writing summaries
  • Writing outlines
  • Writing or debugging computer code   
  • Asking questions free of judgement
  • Generating keywords for database searches
  • Finding basic information about  a topic
  • Providing examples

Generative AI can help produce content to use in your classes.  Consider some of these ideas:

  • Enter the scope of your class into Copilot or ChatGPT and ask it to create a syllabus.
  • Ask Copilot or ChatGPT to provide examples of a concept or topic - you can tailor this to the level of the students you are teaching.
  • Ask Copilot or ChatGPT to create exam or assessment questions on a topic.
  • Ask Copilot or ChatGPT to come up with an engaging activity to help students learn a concept.
