Remote Access for Authorized Library Users

Are you working off-network and want to gain access to library subscribed online resources using your Library Username and Password but don't know how?

Please see the instructions below.

Some resources require a separate registration for access. Instructions for those services are at the bottom of this page.

Note: Usernames and passwords previously listed on this page were provided temporarily in response to the initial COVID shutdown. Most of them have expired. The instructions now listed are valid until further notice.

How to Get Your Library Username and Password

If you do not know your Username, contact the Library Service Desk either in person, by phone at 333-4664, email libinfo@afacademy.af.edu or click on the "Ask Us" tab at right for Live Chat with library staff
Also verify the Email Address on your library account.
Go to the McDermott Library Website: https://usafa.insigniails.com/Library/Home
Click the Login link located on the upper right side of the page
Click on the link Forgot your password?
Enter your Patron ID (Username) and the Email Address on your library account -- then click Ok
You will receive an email with the subject line, Reset Your Password
In the email: Click here to reset your forgotten password
Enter your new password. It is case-sensitive and MUST contain: 2 upper case letters, 2 lower case letters, 2 numbers, 2 special characters and be at least 9 characters in length, but can be longer

Once you have entered the login details, you will be able to access most library databases remotely using your username and password.

Ebooks and Audiobooks

OverDrive
Use these steps to get started with access to a wide selection of popular fiction and non-fiction e-books and audiobooks, magazines and videos:
       Step 1: Go to OverDrive at DoD MWR Libraries: https://dod.overdrive.com/
       Step 2: Click on "Sign In" located in the top right hand corner of page
       Step 3: Select "USAF - OverDrive assigned starts with FL" in the dropdown menu
       Step 4: Enter Card Number to Sign In. This will be FL + 7000 (seven thousand) + 10-digit phone number. Example: FL70007191112222
            Note: Use this Card Number for continued access. It is case sensitive and 7000 is the assigned FL number for McDermott Library.

Use these steps to get started accessing OverDrive with the Libby App:
       Step 1: Download the Libby app next to the "Meet Libby" banner on OverDrive at DoD MWR Libraries, or directly from Apple App Store or Google Play
       Step 2: Answer "yes" to the First question: "do you have a library card?"
       Step 3: Select "I'll Search For A Library". For library, type in "Department of Defense" and select.
       Step 4: Select "Choose a Location". Select your library: USAF - OverDrive assigned starts with FL.
       Step 5: Enter your Card Number: FL7000 + 10-digit phone number (Example: FL70007191112222) and Sign In. Note: FL number is case sensitive.
       Step 6: Select "Next" for full access.
       Step 7: To add a second library card from another library system, click on the face icon in the top right hand corner of your app. A menu appears with Your Libraries, then select "Add a Library" and enter the "Library name, city, or zip".

Mango Languages
Want to learn a foreign language? Enter your assigned library Username and Password, if prompted.
It will take you to the landing page for Mango that says United States Air Force Academy
If you need to create an account for Mango, please follow these steps:
   Step 1: Don't have a profile, click the Sign Up button.
   Step 2: Enter your Email Address and a Password
   Step 3: Click the Sign Up button for your new account.

From main page, select "Log In To USAFA", then enter your McDermott Library Username and Password for the United States Air Force Academy to access a wide collection of films and documentaries.
OverDrive
See Ebooks and Audiobooks box for steps to access OverDrive. A selection of popular and educational streaming videos are available for viewing.
PBS Streaming Videos
To access all PBS video content from the website, click the Sign In button at the top-left corner of page, select Sign In with PBS Account and enter the following email address and password:

SciFinder and SciFinder-n User Registration Link
First time users must create an account for SciFinder and SciFinder-n on the USAFA network by clicking this registration link.
You must enter your Contact Information, Username and Password, Security Information (i.e. one security question), then click Register.
