Reference & Research

  • Academic Search Ultimate: access through both sites. Developed to meet the increasing demands of scholarly research, the resource offers students an unprecedented collection of peer-reviewed, full-text journals, including many journals indexed in leading citation indexes. **Also Available through the McDermott Library**
  • Britannica Academic: access through both sites. Delivers fast and easy access to high-quality, comprehensive information on a variety of subjects. **Also Available through the McDermott Library**
  • Britannica ImageQuest: access through both sites. Provides educational imagery from over 50 leading collections with detailed descriptions and can be easily downloaded, printed, or emailed.
  • Credo Reference–access through both sites. Authoritative reference sources provide a firm foundation for understanding a topic. Search in over 1,000 encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri, quotations, and subject-specific book titles and video titles, as well as thousands of images, audio files, and maps.
  • EBSCO Host Databases: access through both sites. Search multiple databases at the same time. **Also Available through the McDermott Library**
  • EBSCO LearningExpress: access through both sites. Provides interactive tutorials, practice tests, e-books, flashcards and articles for academic skill-building, career advancement and test preparation resources available for elementary, middle school, high school, and college students.
  • Foreign Policy: access through both sites. Provides a deep dive on all things’ global affairs. FP explains the ins and outs of how foreign-policy decisions are being made and who is making them.
  • Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia: access through MWR Libraries. Contains images, brief biographies, and information on a variety of subjects.
  • Gale in Context: Biography: access through both sites. Offers access to thousands of both contemporary and historical biographies. **Also Available through the McDermott Library**
  • Gale In Context: Science: access through both sites. Offers over 600 pages on topics across the curriculum, covering biology, chemistry, earth and environmental science, physics, and more.  **Also Available through the McDermott Library**
  • Gale Online Resources: access through both sites. A one-stop gateway to all things Gale. Access books, journals, magazines, newspapers, primary sources, videos, podcasts, tutorials, with frequent new content updates.

  • Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA): access through both sites. A free research database for library and information science studies. Provides indexing and abstracting for hundreds of key journals, books, and research reports.
  • National Fire Codes NFPA LiNK® access through both sites. A subscription-based application that delivers NFPA codes and standards and supporting content. This new tool allows users to easily search and navigate a variety of different content types based on real-life scenarios.
  • Publication Finder: access through MWR Libraries. A state-of-the-art publication search service provided by EBSCO. Find resources by title, subject, or ISSN/ISBN.
  • Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Source  access through MWR Libraries. Essential reference database for rehabilitation clinicians. It offers full-text sports medicine and rehabilitation journals, books, trade publications and magazines on orthopedics, physiology, nutrition, sports exercise, and physical therapy.
  • Stratfor/Worldview: access through both sites. Identified major themes and topics that shape the world and make them easy to explore in Worldview. Every assessment read on Worldview connects to the core themes and topics that are followed in depth.
  • Teacher Reference Center: access through both sites. Research database for teachers and education professionals and provides indexing and abstracts for more than 230 peer-reviewed journals.  **Also Available through the McDermott Library**
  • World Book Advanced: access through both sites. (Recommended ages 12+) A concise resource to check the facts. Live news feeds to world newspapers and primary source documents are included.
